Holy Rosary CU (HRCU) recently held its 64th Annual Meeting on March 18, bringing together members, community leaders, and industry partners to celebrate progress, honor service, and look ahead to continued service to our members. This meeting also marked the final meeting for HRCU President & CEO Brian Hughes before his upcoming retirement.
HRCU welcomed an outstanding lineup of speakers who shared insights on community growth, financial wellness and the evolving landscape of local banking:
- Charles W. Grassie Jr., Mayor of Rochester
- Emelia A.S. Galdieri, New Hampshire Bank Commissioner
- Ron McLean, President & CEO, Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA)
- Billy LaFavor, President & CEO, TriCorp FCU
- LeeAnn Bruneau, Executive Director, Rochester SHARE Fund
- Kim Lanoie, R.W. Creteau Technology Center Banking & Financial Literacy Program Student and third-generation HRCU member
Their perspectives underscored the statewide value of local financial institutions and highlighted the role HRCU plays in strengthening financial well-being, expanding educational opportunities, and supporting community programs.
During the business portion of the meeting, members received a financial update highlighting the credit union’s continued strength and positive growth. HRCU now serves more than 25,000 members and is approaching $500 million in assets. The update also underscored HRCU’s meaningful impact on members and the broader community, including the prevention of more than $1.3 million in potential fraud losses over the past three years and contributions totaling more than $166,000 to local nonprofits in 2025. Reinforcing its commitment to community support, HRCU donated to the Rochester SHARE Fund during the event.
Members approved the appointment of Stephen Wood to the Board of Directors and Karen Gravel to the Supervisory Committee. The credit union also celebrated several milestone anniversaries, honoring Gerry Bisaillon for 45 years of volunteer service on the Supervisory Committee, Board of Directors, and Council of Trustees; Ronald G. Vachon for 35 years on the Credit Committee and Board of Directors; and Anne Brown and Kathy Gordon for five years each of dedicated service on the Board of Directors. Their continued contributions reflect the heart of HRCU’s not-for-profit community banking philosophy and the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors.
“Our Annual Meeting is a reminder of why local banking matters,” shared Hughes. “HRCU began in 1962 in the Holy Rosary Parish church basement with a literal shoebox and has since grown into a community credit union that proudly serves all of New Hampshire and Southern Maine.” He then went on to thank all members, staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors for their support over his 22-year tenure and reflected on what an honor it has been to serve.
