Honoring Those We Lost on October 25

On October 25, 2023, our hearts were shattered when a gunman opened fire at Just-In-Time Recreation and Schemengees Bar & Grille in Lewiston, killing 18 innocent people. As we collectively approach the one-year anniversary of this horrific tragedy, Community CU is asking credit unions, the League, and Synergent to consider joining them in honoring the victims and their families.

From October 20 – 28, the credit union will be placing 18 candles in their drive-up windows to represent each life, legacy, and story that was extinguished too soon. This gesture of remembrance is something any credit union—no matter where their branch is located—can do to unite behind the greater Lewiston/Auburn community during this difficult time. Credit unions always come together to support one another and our state in times of need. Once again, our movement can serve as a beacon of light and hope during a period of darkness in the days ahead.
