Hike the Hill Plays an Important Role in Advocacy

Advocacy is a critical tool we use to ensure credit union interests are being represented in the halls of the State House and in the U.S. Capitol. It is often said that if credit unions aren’t at the table, we are on it.

This week, representatives from Maine’s credit unions and the League were in Washington, DC, participating in Hike the Hill.  Meetings were held with members of Maine’s congressional delegation, NCUA Board Chairman Rodney Hood, and CUNA.

“Our meetings with our policymakers were both productive and meaningful,” said Robert Caverly, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the League. “It also was nice to time our trip around International Credit Union Day, as it provided a great opportunity to highlight the contributions credit unions are making across Maine in their communities.”

Seven credit unions traveled to DC to participate in Hike the Hill, including Atlantic FCU, Bangor FCU, Evergreen FCU, Five County CU, Infinity FCU, Maine State CU, and Oxford FCU.
