Help Us Bring The CU Voice To D.C.

As evidenced in recent weeks with correspondence on legislation and visits to local CUs, your League communicates with Maine's Congressional Delegation on a regular basis. While these communications are important, another crucial part of legislative success is involvement, and putting 'boots' on the ground. Your League's Annual 'Hike the Hill' trip happening October 5-7, provides an opportunity to do that - bring the credit union voice to Washington, D.C.

This year's trip begins with a Legislative Briefing and Reception from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., on Monday, October 5, for attendees at Credit Union House. Members of the Credit Union National Association's (CUNA) legislative and political affairs team will discuss current legislation and issues that are important talking points when meeting with members of the Congressional Delegation. A group dinner at Capitol Grille follows.

On Tuesday, October 6, it's a full day of individual meetings with the Maine Congressional Delegation. Your League has already tentatively confirmed meetings with each member of the Delegation in their offices.  On Tuesday evening, your League and attendees will join Senator King at CU House for a special event.

The group will return to Maine on Wednesday, October 7.

"Having representatives from Maine's credit unions take the time to come to Washington, and meet with our Delegation sends a strong message that political involvement and engagement is important to Maine's Credit Unions. This is a very important part of our annual political involvement program," stated your League's President John Murphy.
