Following the Primary Election, League Gears Up for General Election Endorsements

With Tuesday’s primary behind us, the League’s Governmental Affairs team will begin considering endorsements for the general election in November.

“Supporting credit union-friendly candidates is key to our advocacy success,” said Robert Caverly, League Vice President of Advocacy and Outreach. “We look forward to vetting each of the 186 legislative races, plus Maine’s three congressional races to find the best candidates for credit unions.”

Every election season, the League’s Governmental Affairs Committee recommends endorsements to the League Board of Directors. Any candidate who receives an endorsement is vetted by the League and supports the credit union movement and League priorities.

“We love to see our credit union champions win elections,” said Krista Simonis, League Director of Governmental Affairs. “But regardless of the outcome, it’s important to get involved in the process. The endorsement really sends a signal to credit union employees and members alike that this candidate shares credit union values.”

Endorsements are expected to be released around Labor Day. If you have more questions about the endorsement process, please contact the League’s Governmental Affairs team.
