Five Maine credit unions have been awarded grants by the NCUA that are designed to help credit unions increase outreach to underserved communities, improve digital services and security, or train employees. The recipients are Brewer FCU, Community CU, Eastmill FCU, Katahdin FCU, and Lincoln Maine FCU.
According to NCUA, it is awarding $1.9 million in grants to help 155 low-income credit unions. The grants range from $1,900 to $100,000 to credit unions in 40 states and the District of Columbia. The deserving Maine grant recipients have been awarded grants under the following categories:
- Digital Services and Securities: Brewer FCU ($8,000), Eastmill FCU ($5,000), and Katahdin FCU ($4,750)
- Training: Community CU ($5,000) and Lincoln Maine FCU ($5,000)
