Ethan Barber
Ethan Barber, a recent graduate of the University of Denver, has joined the Maine Credit Union League as our new Manager of Governmental Affairs. His first day was August 4.
In this role, Barber will work under the guidance of Jared Gay, the League’s Director of Advocacy & Compliance. He will support the League’s advocacy initiatives by researching legislative and regulatory issues, preparing communications—including testimony—updating resources, tracking legislation, and assisting with political fundraising.
“Ethan is going to be an outstanding addition to our League team,” shared Elise Baldacci, President of the Maine Credit Union League. “With his keen attention to detail and political savvy, I know he will be an asset to our governmental affairs efforts. He also has a strong commitment to community service, which aligns perfectly with our People Helping People philosophy.”
A native of Vermont, Barber previously served as an intern for the Vermont State Treasurer, where he contributed to the development of the Vermont Saves Retirement Program. He also gained experience managing court and client documents through his work at a law firm in Vermont.
“I’m excited to begin my journey in the credit union movement,” said Barber. “The deep commitment credit unions show to their members resonates with me and aligns with my belief in the power of community. I’m honored to join a team working to strengthen that impact through advocacy.”
Barber earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both International Studies and German, along with a minor in Economics. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, biking, and traveling—and is eager to explore all the amazing things Maine has to offer.
