Elizabeth Keene, Board Vice Chair at Community CU, has been awarded the Alexander Ferguson Award. This award recognizes an outstanding credit union volunteer.
Elizabeth has been serving on the credit union’s Board of Directors for the past eight years. Her father, Hugh Keene, served as Community CU’s Board Chair for over 30 years and was honored with this award in 2013.
As a member of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center’s senior leadership team, Elizabeth is deeply involved in her community. She serves on a variety of local boards and committees and is a trusted advisor for community wellness.
Elizabeth also is a strong ambassador for the credit union. She works hard to facilitate connections that help the credit union forge partnerships that benefit their members and the community. Thanks to her help, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center will be part of Community CU’s new financial navigator initiative.
During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, she played an invaluable role helping Community CU. She always took calls and responded to emails late into the evening, offering her guidance and support. She also introduced Jennifer Hogan, Community CU’s CEO, to local hospital administrators to discuss how she could mitigate the spread of COVID throughout credit union and manage positive cases. In her award nomination, it was stated that, “she was called upon at nearly every board meeting to offer insights and suggestions that proved to be useful for not only the credit union, but also for other board members’ businesses and their lives as individuals.”
On behalf of the League and her colleagues at Community CU, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Elizabeth and thank her for her years of dedicated service.
