With ample charity walks, member appreciation gatherings, and days spent golfing on the greens, a busy September is behind us! Here is a snapshot of what some of the League’s credit unions were up to last month:
- Acadia FCU received a legislative sentiment from Maine Senator Troy Jackson in honor of the credit union’s recognition on the Best Places to Work in Maine list.
- Atlantic FCU proudly supported ProsperityME’s 14th Annual Community Block Party on September 14.
- Donations of nonperishable items poured in at Bangor FCU to benefit Loaves and Fishes Ellsworth.
- Brewer FCU joined CUSO Home Lending at Bangor Municipal Golf Course on September 9 for the Bangor Chamber Golf Tournament.
- Diana Winkley, CEO of Capital Area FCU, celebrated 33 years with the credit union. Congratulations and thank you for your many years of dedication to your members, Diana!
- On September 16, Casco FCU celebrated their members with a Member Appreciation BBQ.
- Central Maine FCU shared information about National Teal Talk Day on September 23 on their Facebook page. The day raises awareness about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer.
- September 17 brought about the Bikes, Beans and Mean Machines event at Changing Seasons FCU.
- Florals found their way into the Turner branch of Community CU to raise money for the Campaign for Ending Hunger! Donations from employees, community members, and Chickswell and Beans Sunflowers allowed the credit union to sell flowers in support of food pantries in Androscoggin County.
- Connected CU excitedly shared that they were one of six Augusta credit unions to receive the Mayor’s Recognition of Excellence (REX), which highlighted the success of the Campaign for Ending Hunger.
- For the 6th straight year, cPort CU was named one of the Best Places to Work in Maine!
- Marjorie, a Service Specialist II in the Gray branch of Cumberland County FCU, celebrated five years with the credit union. Congratulations, Marjorie, and thank you for serving your members!
- Employees from Dirigo FCU volunteered for United Way’s Day of Caring by spending the day at St. Mary’s Nutrition Center and Food Pantry.
- Downeast CU branches collected toiletries this month for the OHI Maine Brewer Area Food Pantry. They also presented the pantry with a financial donation.
- Eastmill FCU’s fall newsletter spread awareness about International Credit Union Day happening on October 20.
- Through their partnership with the Portland Sea Dogs, Evergreen CU donated $70 in the month of September to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (ARLGP). Evergreen pledged to donate $10 for every hit the 5th batter had at home to the ARLGP. The total for the baseball season is now $595.
- To benefit Maine Wildlife Transport, Five County CU sold raffle tickets to hopeful members trying win one of the two fall-themed prize baskets.
- Franklin-Somerset FCU’s fall newsletter invited members to join them for Member Appreciation Day on October 20.
- Staff from Gardiner FCU visited the new Boys and Girls Club of Kennebec Valley.
- Great Falls FCU completed their merger with Monmouth FCU. Congratulations!
- Infinity CU featured David Williams, Business Technology/Solutions Manager, in September’s employee highlight. David has played a large role in system conversions and major internal projects. He has been with the credit union for 15 years.
- Katahdin FCU held their annual Ending Hunger Golf Tournament and raised $10,000 to support the Campaign!
- Deseree Gilman, CEO of KSW FCU, joined Meryia Currie-Michaud for a conversation about the growth, promotions, and benefits of being a member on the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce’s “Chamber Chatter” segment.
- KV FCU supported the Campaign for Ending Hunger with team spirit through multiple New England Patriots-themed raffles.
- Staff from Lincoln Maine FCU helped at the Mattanawcook Academy soccer games on September 10 by assisting with the concession stand for the athletic boosters.
- September 16 was Lisbon Community FCU’s Member Appreciation Day. Members enjoyed food, drinks, hourly giveaways, and gifts.
- Maine Family FCU held their Annual Meeting virtually on September 20.
- After first opening the doors to their Canaan branch in November of 2019, Maine Highlands FCU was finally able to hold their grand opening with a barbecue lunch, games, and giveaways.
- The Ellsworth branch of Maine Savings FCU participated in the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce Autumn Gold Days Decorating Contest this year.
- A group from Maine State CU took part in the Dempsey Challenge!
- Midcoast FCU’s CEO, Joe Gervais, was featured in an episode of Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Chat, where he discussed the history of the credit union movement and the difference between credit unions and banks.
- In their fall newsletter, Milestones FCU announced they will be celebrating Credit Union Week in October with giveaways and refreshments.
- Winners were drawn daily at New Dimensions FCU for their gift card calendar raffle. Proceeds benefitted Special Olympics Maine and the Campaign for Ending Hunger.
- NorState FCU thanked Member Service Advisor Lorraine Babin for 15 years of dedicated service. Congratulations on your work anniversary, Lorraine!
- Branches of Northeast CU collected food donations throughout the month to give back to local hunger relief efforts in their communities.
- OTIS FCU warned members of potential natural disaster relief scams as Hurricane Ian prepared to strike.
- Oxford FCU’s Samantha Noyes, Senior VP – Member Service, and Joanne Bisson, Executive VP, ventured to Washington D.C. for Hike the Hill where they helped advocate for credit union issues.
- Penobscot County FCU shared information about the new property tax freeze for Maine seniors on their website.
- PeoplesChoice CU hosted multiple Hops N’ Homes homebuyer happy hours throughout the month.
- A fall raffle began at Sabattus Regional CU in support of the Campaign for Ending Hunger.
- Saco Valley CU served as an auction sponsor at the Biddeford Education Foundation’s Pillars of Pride event.
- On Facebook, Seaboard FCU continued to share financial tips and tricks.
- The fall newsletter from Sebasticook Valley FCU offered tips for improving your credit score.
- The County FCU is enthusiastically participating in North Country Auto’s 2022 Gearing Kids Up for Winter fundraiser to help provide children living in Aroostook County with clothing they need for the colder season.
- Town & Country FCU was a sponsor of and exhibitor at the Portland Recovery Community Center’s annual Rally 4 Recovery event celebrating Recovery Month and supporting the work of the Center.
- Trademark FCU announced the rollout of its new Invest in the Arts community project. The credit union will display ten art pieces from various artists to display at their South Portland branch.
- The TruChoice Trekkers from TruChoice FCU came together for the 35th annual Maine Children’s Cancer Program Walk. The team raised over $7,500.
- Congratulations, Madison Gray! She is the recipient of UCU’s quarterly Star Award, which recognizes an employee that goes above and beyond for their colleagues.
- Winthrop Area FCU showed some love for staff on various employee birthdays!
