CU Employee Training to Focus on Deciphering Dementia

It is estimated that the worldwide prevalence of dementia will double by 2050. Although banking is an everyday task that most of us take for granted, accessing financial services challenges people with dementia. To help credit union employees recognize the signs of dementia in members, the League is partnering with AARP’s BankSafe initiative to offer a free virtual training. The training also will educate credit union staff about how they can better assist and protect members with dimentia.

Jilenne Gunther, National Director for AARP’s BankSafe Initiative, will lead this important training which will take place online on December 8 from 2:00-2:45 pm. Gunther has nearly two decades of experience in public policy and elder law.

“The BankSafe training platform is the result of true collaboration between the financial industry and AARP,” said Gunther. “Together, we aim to create a nationwide network of highly trained professionals committed to helping older adults protect their life savings.”
