There was great cause for celebration at Monday’s Ending Hunger Results Luncheon. In addition to announcing the incredible 2024 fundraising results for Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger, several credit unions were recognized with awards for their individual contributions.

Atlantic FCU accepts their award for Highest Dollars Contributed to the Campaign.
Total Dollars Contributed to End Hunger in Maine:
- 1st Place – Atlantic FCU
- 2nd Place – Maine State CU
- 3rd Place – Acadia FCU
- 4th Place – Maine Savings FCU
- 5th Place – PeoplesChoice CU
- 6th Place – Sebasticook Valley FCU
- 7th Place – The County FCU

Gardiner FCU accepts their award for Highest Per Member Contributions.

- 4th Place – Sebasticook Valley FCU

“The race for the ‘top seven’ in each of these categories was tight,” shared Jen Burke, League Vice President of Outreach & Strategic Initiatives. “It is truly amazing to see everyone’s contributions grow—regardless of whether they received an award. Maine credit unions are so deeply committed to this initiative and the proof is in our outstanding fundraising results.”
In honor of the Campaign’s 35th anniversary, the League’s Social Responsibility Committee has established a collective fundraising goal of $1.35 million for 2025.
Credit union volunteerism also was on display during the awards ceremony. Three credit unions took home a Volunteer Excellence Award for reporting the most volunteer hours in 2024 in their asset size. The award winners were:
- Gardiner FCU with a total of 1,485.5 hours of donated time in 2024
- Community CU with a total of 2,054 hours of donated time in 2024
- UCU with a total of 3,994.9 hours of donated time in 2024
Several credit unions reported over 1,000 hours in volunteer time last year. Their commitment to service was also acknowledged:

- Maine Family FCU
- Maine Highlands FCU
- Maine State CU

“Volunteerism is truly a wonderful complement to the fundraising work credit unions are doing on behalf of the Campaign for Ending Hunger,” shared Lauren Simonds, League Outreach Coordinator. “We appreciate all those who tracked their time in 2024 and encourage credit unions to keep up the reporting this year.”
