Are you a young professional in search of career development and networking opportunities with like-minded individuals? If so, you’re in luck! The League is partnering with the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) to host a Young Professionals (YPs) Summit in Portsmouth, NH, on May 4. The event will take place at Service CU’s Operations Center, located at 3003 Lafayette Road.
YPs from Maine credit unions will have the opportunity to spend a day of learning and networking with their colleagues from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Delaware, and Rhode Island. YPs from both leagues will attend multiple breakout sessions focused on growth, networking, and education.
“Our League has enjoyed planning this special event for our YPs with the CCUA,” shared Jake Holmes, League Financial Literacy Outreach Coordinator. “We’ve been building the agenda for the Summit since late last year and look forward to bringing together credit union staff and volunteers, ages 21-to-40, to collaborate, learn, and share how the People Helping People movement is improving communities across the Northeast.”
Attendees will participate in a workshop hosted by Alyson Bullock, a Massachusetts-based therapist that specializes in communication. She will cover assertive communication, diplomatically disagreeing, and managing workplace anxiety—followed by a workshop where YPs can practice applying those concepts.
Summit participants also will hear from Cortney Arnold, the Community Development Director at Filene Research Institute. Cortney will discuss what leadership looks like in a hybrid setting and how to stand out in this environment.
“The speakers we’ve secured will offer dynamic sessions to benefit this employee demographic,” added Holmes. “I really hope we have strong representation from our Maine YPs. I truly believe it is an event they won’t want to miss.”
Other interactive sessions will guide YPs through networking with their peers, such as a roundtable discussion about trending topics with credit union industry leaders. The day will wrap up with networking, dinner, and drinks at the Portsmouth Brewery.
