Connected CU’s Cathy Bond Receives Prestigious 2025 League President’s Award

Connected CU’s Cathy Bond and League President Elise Baldacci.

After nearly completing her first full year as League President, Elise Baldacci was thrilled to present her first League President’s Award to Cathy Bond, CEO at Connected CU. Bond was honored at a special ceremony during the League’s Annual Convention, now known as Elevate.

Baldacci shared, “When I think about credit unions in Maine, I think about cooperation and good-hearted people who are hardworking, kind, and always there to help a member in need. And to me, there’s no one more exemplary of those special qualities than Cathy Bond.”

Bond has been a leader in the credit union movement for many decades serving at the helm of two credit unions—Winslow Community FCU and Connected CU—during her career. Throughout her time in the industry, she has been a trusted and comforting voice for her members, employees, and colleagues. She is held in the highest regard, not only by those she interacts with every day at her credit union, but by everyone at the League as well.

“When I talked to credit unions in the Augusta area about Cathy, they all said the same thing,” added Baldacci. “She is smart, kind, and a mentor to so many in our credit union environment. Most important, she will always do whatever she can to help her members.”

Bond will be retiring soon and turning over her responsibilities to incoming President/CEO Kristen Poremby in the fall of 2025. While she may be stepping away from her formal role, her passion and influence will continue to shape our People Helping People movement for years to come.

“Cathy has been a role model, both personally and professionally,” shared Baldacci. “There is no one better suited to win the 2025 League President’s Award and I am honored to highlight her contributions in this way!”

Congratulations, Cathy and thank you for your many years of dedicated service.
