United States Congressman Bruce Poliquin representing Maine’s Second Congressional District visited The County Federal Credit Union’s Presque Isle office on Friday, August 17. Congressman Poliquin serves on the House Financial Services Committee which provides oversight to America’s financial services sector.
League President John Murphy said, “Maine’s Credit Union’s certainly appreciate Congressman Poliquin taking the time to visit credit unions and hear first-hand the challenges credit unions face day in and day out serving the financial service needs of members in today’s over regulated financial services environment. Although the Congressman had hoped to visit with other credit unions in the county that day scheduling demands prevented him from doing so but he very much looks forward to visit with other credit unions in the district throughout the year.”
Ryan Ellsworth, President/CEO of The County FCU reported the Congressman was able to visit with the credit union while touring the area for the Fort Fairfield Potato Blossom Festival. “We were pleased to spend quality time with Congressman Poliquin—he asked questions and showed concern for the issues facing credit unions today along with the economy in Aroostook County,” Ellsworth said.
