The League formally announced it has endorsed U.S. Representatives Chellie Pingree (D) and Jared Golden (D). Pingree is running for re-election in Maine’s first congressional district; Golden is running for re-election in Maine’s second congressional district.
“Maine is fortunate to have a credit union champion like Congresswoman Pingree fighting on our behalf in Washington,” said Todd Mason, President/CEO of the Maine Credit Union League. “She has a proven track record of credit union advocacy in Congress and understands the credit union difference. Our League is proud to once again provide her campaign our full support!”
Endorsements for public office are approved by the League’s Board of Directors. Credit union relationships, voting history, credit union advocacy, and shared credit union values all are considered when making candidate endorsements.
“Congressman Golden understands the meaningful contributions Maine credit unions make in communities across the state and in the lives of our members,” added Mason. “We are honored to support his campaign and look forward to continuing our important work with him on issues that matter to our members and movement.”
The League does not endorse candidates based on their party affiliation and has a rich history of supporting candidates on both sides of the political aisle.
