For a small user fee, members and non-members can visit NorState FCU’s branches in Madawaska, Fort Kent, and Presque Isle to have their loose change sorted and redeemed. Each year, the user fees collected are tallied up in December and donated to a worthy cause.
In it’s inaugural year, the credit union chose the American Red Cross as its recipient charity. To commemorate the tenth anniversary of offering this change service to the community, NorState FCU once again selected the American Red Cross as its beneficiary and $6,838.49 was donated to the organization to support disaster relief in Aroostook County.
“The American Red Cross responds to a disaster every eight minutes,” shared Brian Bouley, Red Cross Community Manager – Aroostook County. “Whether it’s a hurricane, flood, tornado, or home fire, these disasters upend lives. Our volunteers stand ready to provide care and comfort at a moment’s notice. We are so grateful to NorState FCU and all those who supported this coin sorter initiative for disaster relief. This generous gift will allow the Red Cross to continue delivering critical help like food, shelter, relief supplies, and financial assistance when people need it most.”
NorState FCU has already announced that the recipient of its 2025 coin sorter fundraising efforts will be the Hope & Justice Project, Aroostook County’s domestic violence resource center.
