CCUA-MECUL YP Summit Draws More Than 140 Young Professionals

The League and the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) joined forces recently as hosts of a Young Professionals Summit held at Service Credit Union in Portsmouth, NH. The day of learning and networking attracted young professionals from credit unions across five states.

“The summit was a great opportunity for young professionals from two leagues to come together,” reported Aimee Morin, CCUA’s Project Manager and its Young Professionals Network Organizer. “With events like this, we are supporting the future leaders of our industry. Continued dedication to the YP Network and new CCUA YP Advisory committee are what will help our industry evolve.”

Morin was joined in the planning process for the Summit by Jake Holmes, Financial Literacy Outreach Coordinator, at the Maine Credit Union League.

“Networking, idea sharing, and professional development are the three main pillars of the YPN, and our day-long program offered attendees all three,” he said. “The planning and execution of the event was incredibly rewarding, and I look forward to continued collaboration in the years to come.”

Maine Credit Union League President/CEO Todd Mason noted the importance of hosting young professionals within the credit union industry, saying, “Collaboration is at the heart of the credit union movement. It was truly a wonderful experience bringing together members of our League and CCUA’s to network, learn, and demonstrate why the credit union movement is a great place to launch and build a career.”

CCUA President/CEO Ron McLean added, “CCUA was proud to partner with our friends at the Maine Credit Union League to empower our young professionals and help them develop additional leadership skills. The future of credit unions is bright with these talented and passionate leaders.”

In addition to the working sessions, the group also conducted a YP Round Table that was received with overwhelming positivity, reinforcing the value of idea sharing and the impact each organization’s YP Advisory Groups will have on the future of the respective networks.
