Casco FCU Branches Collect Peanut Butter for Local Food Pantries

Local food pantries always are in need of non-perishable items, but during the summer months, donations tend to decline.  Because hunger doesn’t take a vacation, the team at Casco Federal Credit Union (FCU) held a peanut butter collection drive last month to help stock the shelves at food pantries in Gorham and Standish.

To add to the fun of the effort, Casco FCU’s two branches competed to see who could collect more jars – the Gorham or West Gorham branch. Both branches collected a total 334 jars of peanut butter, but Casco FCU’s West Gorham branch takes home the bragging rights for collecting the most items.

“This is our third year doing our summer peanut butter drive,” said Kelsey Gillespie, Community Marketing Coordinator for Casco Federal Credit Union. “We started doing this in response to a need expressed by our local food pantries. These pantries have a bigger demand for kid-friendly snacks during the summer months because students who typically get meals at school are on vacation. We’re happy to help fill that need!”

The peanut butter drive might be over, but Casco FCU collects donations for the Gorham and Standish Food Pantries all year long. Visit a branch to make a donation and hats off to the team at Casco FCU for a successful effort!
