Can You Spot the Signs of Elder Financial Abuse?

League Public Affairs & Communications Manager Jen Burke spoke with WMTW News 8 earlier this week about elder financial abuse and shared tips for recognizing signs of abuse. With one in nine older Americans experiencing a form of financial abuse, do you know the signs you should be looking for to help protect yourself or someone you know?

“This is an issue that hits home,” said Burke. “The statistics speak for the themselves.  Unfortunately many of the financial abusers are people older individuals know. It’s not necessarily someone from afar that does the abusing, which is why it is critically important to raise awareness about this issue.”
