The Atlantic FCU Foundation presents a check to the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Maine.
The Atlantic FCU Foundation has awarded a $20,000 grant to launch a pilot expansion of the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Maine’s Bridge to Success program, extending its reach to middle school students. This enhanced initiative will provide students with early exposure to career pathways, hands-on learning experiences, and essential financial education skills.
By integrating these students into the Bridge to Success framework, the initiative ensures teens develop critical life skills—from resume-building to budgeting—while preparing for internships, job shadows, and other real-world experiences in high school. This expansion underscores the Atlantic Foundation’s commitment to empowering Maine youth with the skills, confidence, and financial literacy needed to graduate high school with actionable plans for their futures.
Chris McGorrill, President of the Atlantic FCU Foundation Board, shared, “This pilot expansion bridges the gap between ambition and achievement by teaching financial literacy and career readiness at a pivotal age. Our goal is to see every student graduate with a clear vision and the tools to pursue it.”
The expanded program will help students develop resume writing and interviewing skills while mapping their academic futures. By embedding these lessons early, the program ensures students enter high school with the confidence to navigate financial decisions and career opportunities.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Atlantic FCU Foundation for their generous $20,000 grant in support of our Bridge to Success Expansion Program,” shared Brian C. Elowe, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Maine. “This vital funding allows us to extend our reach to middle school members for the first time, providing them with the tools and support they need to build a strong foundation for their future. Preparing the next generation for success is at the heart of our mission, and with partners like the Atlantic FCU Foundation, we are making that vision a reality for more young people in our community.”
