The Atlantic FCU Foundation has announced the availability of $30,000 in financial education grants to support matched savings programs such as Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) and Family Development Accounts (FDAs). The projects/programs must provide in-person financial training/education and promote, teach, and enhance the financial skills and literacy of young adults, seniors, new Mainers, or others who want to improve their financial future.
“We are proud to be able to support projects that help people take charge of their financial lives,” said Christopher McGorrill, President of the Atlantic FCU Foundation Board. “Our goal is to ensure that individuals have the opportunity to gain the necessary skills for improving their overall financial quality of life.”
The Foundation awards grants to entities designated as tax-exempt according to Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). The projects/programs must be in the Maine counties of Androscoggin, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, or York. Proposals will be accepted from June 19 through July 31, 2023. To be considered for a grant, applicants must apply online at www.atlanticfcu.com/about/atlantic-foundation. Submissions will be evaluated by the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
“We want projects that go beyond providing one-time assistance but rather offer continued support with measurable results,” said McGorrill. “These types of projects have a lasting impact on participants’ lives and we are proud to support them.”
