Atlantic Federal Credit Union (FCU) recently awarded eleven college scholarships valued at $15,000 to students attending Baxter Academy for Technology & Science and Brunswick, Cheverus, Freeport, Greely, and Mt. Ararat High Schools – including a $7,500 Atlantic College Scholarship to Emma Dexter of Greely High School.
This past spring graduating high school seniors, who are members at Atlantic FCU, were invited to submit an application for the Atlantic College Scholarship program. The applicants were asked to provide an essay, a reference letter from a high school teacher or counselor, a resume, including community service, and their transcript. The Atlantic Scholarship Committee reviewed each application and selected the recipients. A total of $15,000 was awarded to eleven students.
Atlantic FCU President Roger Sirois stated, “It is our mission to help our members do better and we are honored to provide assistance to these worthy students in pursuing their education.”
In addition to Emma’s scholarship, Atlantic FCU awarded another $7,500 in scholarships to the following recipients:
- Zoe McNally of Mt. Ararat High School was awarded the $2,500 Atlantic College Scholarship
- Nolan Doherty of Cheverus was selected to receive the $1,000 Atlantic College Scholarship
Atlantic FCU also granted eight $500 scholarships to:
- Jordan Bryant, Greely High School
- Madeline Grace Irish, Greely High School
- Madison Scott, Greely High School
- Margaret Ryan, Freeport High School
- Samantha Palma, Baxter Academy for Technology & Science
- Sarah Poutree, Brunswick High School
- Tyler Gregory Nadeau, Brunswick High School
- William Neleski, Greely High School
