Atlantic FCU Awards $10,000 Scholarship to Thornton Academy Graduate

Atlantic FCU has selected Mia Taranko of Thornton Academy to receive its $10,000 Atlantic College Scholarship.

Earlier this year, graduating high school seniors who are members at Atlantic FCU, were invited to submit an application for the Atlantic College Scholarship program. The applicants were asked to provide an essay, a reference letter from a high school teacher or counselor, a resume including community service, and their transcript. The Atlantic College Scholarship Committee reviewed each application and selected the recipients.

“Our scholarship program launched just before schools began their remote learning schedules,” said Scott Chretien, CEO/President at Atlantic FCU. “While it has been a tough year for high school seniors, I am so proud of all the students who submitted applications. It is truly an honor to award these scholarships.”

In addition to Mia’s scholarship, Atlantic FCU awarded an additional $10,000 in scholarships to the following recipients:

  • Olivia Giandrea of Greely High School was awarded $5,000
  • Katherine Callahan of Mt. Ararat High School was awarded $2,500
  • Everett Beals of Kennebunk High School was awarded $1,500
  • Kailee Sprague of Noble High School was awarded $1,000

Congratulations to these local graduates!
