As we celebrate Valentine’s Day, I want to take a moment to share my heartfelt appreciation for your dedication, generosity, and hard work in 2024 in the fight to end hunger in Maine. Together, we achieved an incredible milestone―over $1.3 million raised in food and cash contributions to address food insecurity. This remarkable achievement is a powerful testament to what we can accomplish together when credit unions unite for a common cause.
Thanks to your efforts, countless individuals and families across Maine have been able to put food on their tables. Each dollar raised, every event organized, and all the time spent generating awareness about hunger in our state has made a difference. On behalf of everyone whose lives you have touched, thank you for embodying the People Helping People philosophy that defines our industry.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting challenge for 2025! The League’s Social Responsibility Committee has set a goal to raise $1.35 million to continue our work to end hunger―a perfect objective for the Campaign for Ending Hunger’s 35th year. It won’t be easy, but we’ve already proven we can reach this goal. Let’s channel the passion, creativity, and commitment that brought us success in 2024 to reach even greater heights this year.
This time of the year is also a perfect time to recognize the exceptional people in our movement―those who go above and beyond to serve our members and communities. I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on who inspires you, whether it’s a colleague, a volunteer at your credit union, or even your CEO. If there is someone you know who exemplifies the values of service, teamwork, and giving back, now is the perfect time to nominate them for a League award. Each year during our annual Convention, we recognize outstanding individuals in our industry. You can help us shine a light on someone you know at our special event in May by completing our online nomination form by March 14.
Once again, thank you for all that you do. Your hard work and dedication remind me every day how special it is to be a part of the credit union movement.
