A Message of Thanks and Gratitude

A few weeks ago, a fire destroyed the home of Denise Dube, Operations Manager at Lisbon Community FCU. To help Denise and her husband recover, a GoFundMe account was established. Many members of our Maine credit union family contributed. At Denise’s request, the League is sharing a letter of thanks from her family for the assistance and well wishes they received.

To my credit union family:

In a previous issue of a Weekly Update, Lisbon Community CU requested that some information be shared with our credit unions.  It was regarding the fact that my husband and I had lost our home and our beloved two cats in a house fire. We were amazed at the response that was received from our family, the community, and our extended credit union family—there is such a support system.

Never in our lives did we expect to suffer such a loss. Never in our lives did we expect to accept donations to help re-establish our lives. We will never be able to truly express how much the donations have meant to us.

There is a light on at the end of this devastating tunnel and it is shining—thanks to the support from everyone—especially our credit union family.

I have learnt some very interesting things which everyone should be on the look-out for in the event they should suffer a loss of any kind. I will gladly share these with anyone who is interested. One I would like to share now is to check your insurance policy to see if and what kind of coverage you have for “loss of use.” This is a benefit I did not know I had. It has allowed us to stay in in a hotel at the expense of our insurance company while we await our new home. Without it, I am not certain where we would be staying.

Thanks again, stay safe, don’t take anything for granted, and stay strong during your most trying times.

 Sincerely,

Denise Dube, Operations Manager at Lisbon Community FCU and Joseph Dube
