The credit union philosophy of People Helping People is carried out all year through the work you do to care for your members and communities. But with the holiday season in full swing and the new year fast approaching, I know many of you are doing even more to make this time of year brighter for those you serve.
From festive Days of Giving to toy and clothing drives, food collections, donations, and more, credit unions are finding additional ways to go above and beyond during an already busy season. These efforts are a powerful reminder of how fortunate I am to work alongside you in the credit union movement.
You should all be proud of the contributions your credit unions have made, both individually and collectively, over the past year. Maine credit unions made meaningful strides to help end hunger, raised critical funds to support Special Olympics athletes and Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, and stood shoulder to shoulder with members when the federal government temporarily closed. This important work comes in addition to the everyday efforts you make to protect members from fraud, provide access to affordable loans, and deliver the cutting-edge financial services that help keep members’ finances on track. There is no shortage of work, and the impact is undeniable.
As we close out this year, I hope you can find time to pause, reflect, and enjoy the holiday season and the special moments it brings. As a mom of three, I am especially looking forward to spending extra time with my family and watching my kids experience the magic that this time of year brings.
