Hot Radio Maine station crew and our League’s Jen Burke hand out turkeys for Thanksgiving Day.
On Tuesday, November 26, Hot Radio Maine put on their 12th Annual Free Turkey Giveaway at the Wells Super Food Market IGA—and our League’s Jen Burke, AVP – Communications & Outreach, was there to help get turkeys into the hands of Mainers! Despite the rain, Burke and the Hot Radio team saw a turnout for the books, giving away 200 turkeys to families in just 90 minutes this Thanksgiving.
In previous years, the Free Turkey Giveaway provided 100 turkeys on a first-come first-served basis. This year, thanks to the generosity of That Place in Ogunquit, an additional 100 turkeys were funded and twice as many families benefitted from a free holiday meal.
Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger is thrilled to take part in this event every year in anticipation of Thanksgiving Day. With the work our League and credit unions do year-round to address the severity of hunger in our communities, we know events like this can make a big difference for many households—especially during the holiday season and start of winter.
