The $100,000 Challenge Is Underway!

It’s official! The $100,000 Ending Hunger Challenge is underway. The end of the month will be here before we know it. With less than 30 days to raise $100,000, we need your credit union’s help to reach our fundraising goal.

There are plenty of ways you can get involved and accept our challenge.

Please consider making a donation on behalf of your credit union. In 2021, nearly half of Maine’s credit unions made direct contributions to the Campaign in support of the Challenge. We’ve brought back our creative contribution levels: Soup and Salad, Chicken Wings, Spaghetti and Meatballs—even Blueberry Pie à la Mode! Let’s get your logo added to the Contributors page.

Credit unions also should challenge their staff, vendors, and members to make an online contribution to the Campaign. To assist, the League has developed several collateral pieces to help your credit union promote the Challenge on your website, social media channels, and in other electronic communications. These materials can be found on the League’s website and include:

  • Member, employee, vendor, and community partner communications
  • Sample social media posts and social media images
  • $100,000 Ending Hunger Challenge lobby posters

Lastly, credit unions are encouraged to conduct their own fundraisers at their branches. From bake sales to yard sales, donations collected in honor of graduates or in honor of dads for Father’s Day, the creativity is limitless! As an extra incentive to get involved, the League/Synergent will be providing the three credit unions that raise the most money during the Challenge with a $500 bonus that they can use to support a hunger relief effort in their community. One credit union winner will be announced in each of the following asset sizes: less than $50 million; $50 – $250 million; and $250 million – $1 billion.

This initiative is People Helping People to its core, so please don’t delay! Get involved in the $100,000 Challenge and encourage others to do the same. Our hunger relief partners across the state are counting on us!
