April Town Hall to Feature TruStage Chief Economist Steven Rick
The League is pleased to welcome back Steve Rick, Director and Chief Economist at TruStage™, as the facilitator of our April Town Hall. This virtual event will take place on Thursday, April 3 at 1:00 pm. Rick will highlight what he sees on the horizon for credit unions and offer his thoughts on the the economy.
InfoSight eNewsletter and Future Changes for Communications
This will be the last month League InfoSight sends out their weekly InfoSight eNewsletter. As exciting new changes approach for League InfoSight, their team will distribute a new InfoSight360 newsletter on a monthly basis (similar to what they do now for CU PolicyPro and RecoveryPro). This communication will focus on best practices for using InfoSight360, content updates, training materials, and system updates. The advanced InfoSight360 platform—launching later this quarter—will simplify how credit unions manage compliance, policies, and business continuity planning.

The red carpet was rolled out in Washington, DC, on Monday evening as over 1,000 credit union industry representatives filled the ballroom at the Marriott Marquis Hotel for the National Credit Union’s Foundation’s 2025 Herb Wegner Memorial Awards. This prestigious event honors individuals and organizations who are making extraordinary contributions to improve financial well-being. Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger was one of this year’s four honorees.

Connected CU Now Accepting Scholarship Applications
Connected CU has announced that applications for its 2025 Scholarship Program are now available. The credit union will award four scholarships of $1,000 each to eligible members pursuing a post-secondary education or a graduate degree at an accredited college, university, or technical school.

Lisbon Community FCU Donates $1,500 to Bowdoin Community Cares Association
Lisbon Community FCU proudly donated $1,500 to Bowdoin Community Cares Association to support the purchase of an electric vehicle (EV) fire suppression blanket for the Bowdoin Fire Department. This essential safety equipment will help first responders manage electric vehicle fires more effectively, enhancing safety for both emergency personnel and the community.

Credit Union Advocacy on Full Display This Week in Washington, DC
Over 100 representatives from Maine and thousands of credit union employees and volunteers from across the country came together this week in Washington, DC, for America’s Credit Unions’ Annual Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC). The popular event showcases the importance of advocacy and ensuring that the credit union voice is both heard and represented in Congress.
Maine Legislature Votes In Favor of Consumer Protection
This week, the Legislature held work sessions on both LD 353 and LD 314. LD 353 was tabled by the committee. When reviewing LD 314, the committee unanimously voted that the bill Ought Not to Pass.
Beneficial Ownership Information Reporting Goes Into Effect March 21, 2025
Last week, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas lifted the nationwide injunction on the Beneficial Ownership Information reporting requirement. Small businesses have until March 21, 2025 to comply with the FinCEN reporting requirements. While credit unions do not need to do anything at this time, those with business members may wish to provide information on this requirement to help them avoid costly fines.
