Between attending America’s Credit Unions’ Governmental Affairs Conference, fighting fraud, hosting Financial Fitness Fairs, and supporting communities across the state, Maine’s credit unions stayed busy and engaged throughout the month of March! In this month’s article, our League provides a brief overview of what some of our credit unions were up to.
Surcharge Bill Splits Along Party Lines
This week, the League continued addressing important issues such as surcharges, financial education requirements, and paper statements. The Governmental Affairs team provides an update on their efforts to monitor and engage with bills that impact credit unions.
InfoSight360 Launches
On March 31, together with its league/association partners, League InfoSight launched InfoSight360! This interconnected system is designed to provide credit unions with a 360-degree view of all resources and information available through their league, and brings together League InfoSight’s three flagship products—InfoSight, CU PolicyPro, and RecoveryPro—into a unified platform and single sign-on.
League Trainings Coming to Bangor Later This Month
The League is bringing not one but two of its popular training programs to Bangor later this month. Take advantage of this regional opportunity to enhance your career and leadership skills by participating in one or both courses.
Building Bridges in Home Lending: Highlights from the Third Annual Residential Lending Expo
CUSO Home Lending extends its thanks to the 58 participants, sponsors, and industry experts who attended the Third Annual Residential Lending Expo on March 20 at The Woodlands in Falmouth. Community Recycle Day Will Bring Partners Together in Honor of Earth Day
To commemorate of Earth Day, Community CU is excited to partner with local organizations to host its annual Community Recycle Day Drive-Thru event and bottle drive on Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at their Auburn branch. This free event is open to everyone and will provide a convenient and cost-effective way for area residents to recycle a variety of items.
Maine Savings FCU Opens New Bangor Branch
Maine Savings FCU is excited to announce the grand opening of its newest branch, conveniently located at 878 Stillwater Avenue in Bangor, near the entrance to Walmart. The branch officially opened its doors to members on March 17, expanding Maine Savings’ commitment to providing accessible, personalized financial services to the Greater Bangor community.
FBI Boston Warns Quit Claim Deed Fraud is on the Rise
On April 1, the Boston Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued a warning to property owners and real estate agents about the steady increase in quit claim deed fraud. These scams have resulted in devastating consequences for unsuspecting owners who had no idea their land was sold, or was in the process of being sold, right out from under them.
Dirigo FCU's Purr-suit of Giving
In a world where small acts of kindness make the biggest difference, Dirigo FCU’s Purr-suit of Giving fundraiser proved just how powerful community-driven efforts can be. With a mission to support local animal welfare organizations, their members and community rallied together to raise $1,948 to benefit three incredible, local organizations: Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, Misfits Rehab, and Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills.

Exciting Changes Are Happening for League InfoSight’s Compliance Offerings
Big changes are coming for League InfoSight next week. On March 31, InfoSight is launching their new, combined product: InfoSight360. InfoSight360 will integrate InfoSight, CU PolicyPro, and RecoveryPro for a convenient single-login platform. The system will also be powered with a closed-system AI search feature, enabling users to get all the content on an issue in one place. In the coming weeks, League InfoSight will offer several trainings on the new product.
Committee Activity Marks Busy Week in Augusta
The League’s Governmental Affairs team stayed busy this week, following multiple issues and bills closely. Topics of importance include medical debt and credit reports, allowing merchants to add surcharge fees for card transactions, and engagement in work sessions surrounding both LD 880 and LD 859.
