Maine Family FCU Announces Decrease in Membership Par Value


Maine Family FCU is pleased to announce a significant change to its membership structure that will make joining the credit union even more accessible. Effective January 10, 2025, the par value of membership shares decreased from $25 to $5. Changing Lives at NorState FCU


For a small user fee, members and non-members can visit NorState FCU’s branches in Madawaska, Fort Kent, and Presque Isle to have their loose change sorted and redeemed. Each year, the user fees collected are tallied up in December and donated to a worthy cause. NorState FCU selected the American Red Cross as its 2024 beneficiary and $6,838.49 was donated to the organization to support disaster relief in Aroostook County.

League Delivers Financial Education to Wells-Ogunquit Educators


On January 8, nearly 150 educators in the Wells-Ogunquit school district experienced a role reversal. Rather than facilitating their own learning sessions, they became the students and benefited from a lesson plan delivered by Jake Holmes, League Director of Outreach and Strategic Planning. Holmes walked staff through the League’s new adult financial education curriculum, sharing helpful budgeting tips to help improve their financial wellness.

OTIS FCU Returns More Than $8 Million to Members Through 20 Years of the “OTIS Advantage”


OTIS FCU is pleased to announce that a 10% bonus dividend and interest refund of $1,071,959.30 was posted to member accounts on January 1, 2025. This return represents the credit union’s financial success in 2024 and is its largest bonus to date. Over the past 20 years, OTIS FCU has returned over $8 million to both its savers and borrowers through this practice.

Making An Impact: Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger


The Campaign for Ending Hunger has officially closed its fundraising books for 2024 and soon the results from last year will be announced! If you are as excited to hear the total as we are to share the news, please register for the Annual Ending Hunger Fundraising Results Luncheon, taking place on February 10 at 11:30 am in Freeport. In addition to announcing the Campaign’s results, top credit union fundraisers will be recognized and awards will be given out for credit union volunteerism.
