International Credit Union Day is almost here. Next week, credit unions across Maine will be celebrating the credit union difference with their members and staff. They will be recognizing the important contributions credit unions make in their respective communities not just on International Credit Union Day, but every day!
In addition to hosting member appreciation events, many credit unions will be commemorating the occasion by giving back to their favorite local causes, including Maine’s Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. Help our League capture what you are doing by collecting stories from your members or the organizations you impact. Photos and videos are great tools for storytelling, and social media is an easy way to communicate your message. Consider including these hashtags: #mycreditunionstory, #mainecreditunions, #creditunionday, #mymainecustory, #cuownitstory, #ownit.
Maine Credit Unions also will be sponsoring ads featuring real members sharing the meaningful impact credit unions have had on their lives. These ads will capture the spirit of International Credit Union Day and will continue to be used after International Credit Union Week is over.
Don’t forget, credit unions also can celebrate in style by participating in casual dress week for CULAC. In addition to coinciding with International Credit Union Day, casual dress is happening during the League’s Hike the Hill to Washington, DC.
All of the efforts taking place—events; earned, paid and social media; and advocacy—will demonstrate the value, benefits, and strengths of Maine’s credit union network. By showcasing what credit unions do best, we’ll raise important awareness about our movement and inspire others to enhance their own commitments to service.
