From February 25-March 1, nearly 110 credit union representatives from across Maine, the largest-ever contingent from the state, will be in Washington, D.C., advocating on behalf of Maine CUs at the Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) Annual Governmental Affairs Conference.
During the trip, Maine credit union representatives will participate in the general conference by joining more than 5,000 credit union representatives from across the country in “showing the strength in numbers that are America’s credit unions.” “We are Main Street, not Wall Street, and our issues are the issues of our nearly 700,000 credit union members in Maine. We will share our priorities, concerns, and challenges with our Congressional Delegation during our visit,” remarked Todd Mason, President of the Maine Credit Union League, which is leading the trip.
While the group will hear from political leaders, including former President George W. Bush, and other top administration officials, the highlight will be the League’s Annual Breakfast with Maine’s Congressional Delegation on Capitol Hill. The Breakfast takes place on Tuesday, February 27, and all four members of the state’s Congressional Delegation are scheduled to attend.
