December 20, 2018 – In response to a potential government shutdown that may result in work furloughs for many of its members, Northeast Credit Union (NECU) has announced the availability of several special programs to assist federal workers and their families that may be affected by the government shutdown.
NECU recognizes that many of its members who are in government positions may be without work during this time. In speaking about the need for the programs, NECU President and CEO Timothy J. Collia states, “The government shutdown may have a significant impact on the lives of our members, and we are here for you. Northeast Credit Union is committed to helping you through this difficult time, and we recognize that these special programs are necessary to ensure your well-being, and the vitality of our communities.”
The programs will be offered throughout the duration of the government shutdown and includes deferments for up to three months on NECU consumer loans, a special low-rate on a 12-month Signature Loan with deferred payments, and continuation of direct deposit pay at the member’s request.
Collia further stated, “We are committed to working with our members who may be affected by furloughs and will do everything we possibly can to help ease their financial burden during the government shutdown.”
