Community Credit Union Donates 6,124 Diapers to Promise Early Education Center

Lewiston, ME – After a successful 11th annual Diaper Drive held by Community Credit Union, the team happily delivered over 6,124 diapers to the staff and children of Promise Early Education Center, formerly known as Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care. Board Members, Management, Employees and most importantly, members of Community Credit Union raised approximately $1,100 to help the children in our communities.

Management and Employees started the Diaper Drive by making personal contributions.  In addition, they held a 50/50 Raffle during the month of December to help raise additional funds to purchase diapers.  The 50/50 raffle resulted in $481.50 being awarded to one lucky member just in time for the holidays!

“Here at Promise, we meet all the needs of children in our care, of which includes diapers. Community Credit Union’s effort and donation of 6,124 diapers provides for almost 20% of the diapers needed by our program in a year. In addition, their donation is also able to be used as a funding match so that for every dollar of the diapers provided brings $4 in federal funding to support Head Start services in Androscoggin County,” said Betsy Norcross Plourde, Executive Director of Promise Early Education Center.
