Founded in 1938, the Maine Credit Union League continues to be a unifying force in bringing Maine’s credit unions together. We recognize that credit union members are the most important priority, so our mission is clearly focused on ensuring credit unions are in the right place at the right time with the right solution.

Our partnership with credit unions and our close affiliation with the America’s Credit Unions (formerly CUNA) provides the best opportunity for growth, strength and success. Our ability to cooperate and collaborate as a system enables us to provide the unsurpassed member service our industry is known for, as well as ensuring our staffs are well-trained, knowledgeable about compliance standards, and powered by purpose and commitment.

Advocacy on behalf of Maine’s credit unions is a key component of our mission. The League has been instrumental in favorably influencing decisions on many important issues affecting credit unions and their members, from legislation to public opinion.

America’s Credit Unions is the only national association that advocates on behalf of America’s credit unions. They work tirelessly to protect the best interests of credit unions in Washington, DC, and in all 50 states in concert with local leagues. They also fuel professional growth, champion the credit union story, and acknowledge that it’s what we do together that advances the movement. Their 360-degree coordinated advocacy efforts makes sure policymakers and regulators know why credit unions are the best financial service choice for Americans.
