Brewer FCU Celebrates 65 Years with Special Donation

Brewer FCU Board Chair Don Brown kicks off the credit union’s 65th Annual Meeting.

On Friday, April 18, Brewer FCU held its 65th Annual Meeting and as part of the celebration, the credit union presented CHEFS food pantry with a donation to help it continue feeding people in need in the community. The pantry serves approximately 25 families per week.

Brewer FCU raised $7,800 in 2024 for the Campaign for Ending Hunger and dedicated their entire proceeds to CHEFS. This donation is one of the largest the pantry has ever received.

WABI-TV attended the meeting and check presentation and spoke with Katherine Campbell, a volunteer with CHEFS, who shared, “This is very exciting. Not only is it a huge amount of money for us, but where funding for us from the USDA and other grants that we might have are getting cut, this money is going to be especially needed.”

The credit union raises money for the Campaign for Ending Hunger throughout the year and hosts events like their annual disc golf tournament in Orrington to raise both awareness and dollars for hunger relief.
