cPort CU is thrilled to announce the groundbreaking for its new Lewiston branch located at 321 Main Street. The groundbreaking marks the beginning of construction for the new branch, which is designed to offer a convenient and welcoming environment for new and existing members. This milestone also represents the credit union’s dedication to growth, innovation, and the Lewiston community. The site offers a prime location and future hub for providing a unique approach to banking and community engagement.

Key representatives, including the City of Lewiston’s Mayor Carl Sheline, Lewiston City Council President Scott Harriman, Simon Hebert of Hebert Construction, Tom Platz of Platz Associates, as well as local officials and community leaders, attended the groundbreaking ceremony. The event featured remarks from Gene Ardito, cPort CU President and CEO; Mayor Sheline; and Kelsey Marquis, cPort CU Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer.

“What stands out about cPort is their unwavering commitment to delivering the best financial experience to their members,” shared Mayor Sheline. “Today marks an investment in our community’s financial wellbeing, making essential services more accessible and saving valuable time for local residents.”

“We are so excited to invest in Lewiston and to bring a new, modern banking experience to this vibrant area,” said Ardito. “This new location will allow us to better serve new and existing members, as well as contribute to the development of this community.”

cPort CU’s commitment to community is a core value of the organization. That is why the credit union is proud to establish new partnerships with local organizations such as Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan (LA Metro) Chamber of Commerce and Central Maine Medical Center, their new neighbors. These collaborations aim to strengthen community ties.

“We care deeply about the communities in which we live and work. By immersing ourselves in the local community, we can better understand and support the needs of those around us,” said Marquis. “To honor their commitment to the community, cPort donated $5,000 to the LA Metro Chamber of Commerce Chamber Foundation’s Scholarship Fund.”

The new branch will bring 10 new full-time jobs to the Lewiston community. Construction is expected to be completed by late summer of 2025, with the grand opening slated for fall of 2025.
