Special Olympics Maine Presented with Check to Support Efforts to Combat Hunger

Ian Frank and Grace Stults from Special Olympics Maine join credit union friends and partners to celebrate a check presentation for $10,200.

On December 19, Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger presented Special Olympics Maine with a check for $10,200. Funding was raised during the October $100,000 Ending Hunger Challenge and will be used to help Special Olympics Maine launch a new pilot program to assist athletes facing food insecurity.

In addition to the League and Synergent, the following credit unions and credit union partners donated to this fundraising effort:

  • Acadia FCU
  • Casco FCU
  • CU Insurance Solutions
  • Cumberland County FCU
  • Dirigo FCU
  • Five County CU
  • Gardiner FCU
  • KV FCU
  • Maine Highlands FCU
  • Maine State CU
  • Saco Valley CU
  • Seaboard FCU
  • Tricorp FCU
  • UCU

Several of these supporters joined the League and Synergent at the Credit Union Service Center to provide the donation to Special Olympics Maine.

“Presenting this gift and forging this new partnership between the Campaign and Special Olympics is deeply meaningful,” shared Jen Burke, League AVP – Communications & Outreach. “I’m so happy that many of the contributors to this effort could join us for our check presentation. It truly was a wonderful way to begin our holiday celebrations!”
