Northeast CU has officially rebranded to Lighthouse CU and converted its charter status from state to federal. This expansion enables Lighthouse CU to enrich and nourish the lives of others in new communities and create more impact for the members they serve.
The charter change was put forth by the Board of Directors and decided upon by a member vote on June 20, 2024. The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) has granted final approval and the credit union commenced operations under a federal charter on August 26, 2024.
“This year has been extraordinary as we transition from Northeast CU to Lighthouse CU and broaden our field of membership with a federal charter,” says Chris Parker, President & CEO of Lighthouse CU. “These changes will allow us to continue to drive our mission and positively impact new members and communities beyond our current footprint in New Hampshire and southern Maine. We are committed to supporting our members as we enhance our product and service offerings, branch experience, and digital platforms in the months ahead. Our focus is on continual improvement to give back more to our members and make a greater impact in even more communities.”
The essence of a lighthouse conveys guidance and direction, serving as a beacon for navigational aid—strong principles that the credit union will use to serve its members. Under the new brand promise, “Good for you, good for all,” Lighthouse CU will progress toward its goal of inspiring the world to bank with a purpose and illuminate pathways toward financial well-being for members and community partners.
Members will experience minimal impact through these changes. The brand and charter change will not affect member accounts, whether deposits or loans, and funds remain federally insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), operated and managed by the NCUA.
