AARP BankSafe Program Provides Tip Sheet for Deciphering Dementia

AARP’s BankSafe™ initiative is a trusted program that helps credit union and bank employees fight against financial exploitation. In addition to comprehensive frontline training, BankSafe provides both resources and research to help financial institutions spot fraud before it happens. The program’s newest resource, Deciphering Dementia at Your Financial Institution, is a tip sheet credit union staff can use to help recognize the signs of dementia and provide better member service. This form has been added to the Fraud Prevention Resources page on the League website.

If your credit union is interested in signing up for the BankSafe program, register online at AARP’s website. Credit unions who participate can apply to have AARP verify that at least 80% of their frontline staff successfully passed the BankSafe training and receive a seal from AARP. The seal is good for one year and recognizes the credit union’s commitment to fighting exploitation.
