Beginning May 24, Governor Mills will lift the indoor mask mandate. Masks are no longer required for any person regardless of vaccination status, with the exception of inside schools and childcare facilities. Children under five years of age are not required to wear face coverings in childcare facilities. In addition, physical distancing and capacity limits will be lifted for indoor spaces in accordance with the Governor’s Moving Maine Forward Plan.
Credit unions may continue to ask their members and employees to wear masks or ask members and employees to show proof of vaccination to avoid wearing a mask. Any actions taken should be done in accordance with existing laws. Credit unions also may maintain processes such as limiting capacity and maintaining distancing, but are not required to do so.
The May 24 date aligns with Maine’s timeline to remove restrictions and allow those who have not yet been vaccinated to receive at least their first shot prior to the change. This includes youth ages 12 to 15.
