Maine credit unions welcomed the arrival of spring with employee appreciation events, anniversary celebrations, and by doing their part to combat hunger in their local communities. Here is a snapshot of what some of our credit unions were up to in March.
- Acadia FCU welcomed Jarod McBreairty to its team in Madawaska. McBreairty brings 16 years of banking, lending, and leadership experience to the credit union.
- Atlantic FCU held a virtual homebuyer seminar for its members on March 24.
- Bangor FCU upgraded its online and mobile banking platform to better serve its members.
- Brewer FCU celebrated two work anniversaries: Alexis I. and Jenny Y. Thank you for your service!
- Capital Area FCU and the Lodge at Snow Pond donated 35 spaghetti and meatball dinners to the Augusta Teen Center.
- Casco FCU returned a full CLYNK bag of bottles to support the Campaign for Ending Hunger.
- Central Maine CU announced it is now accepting applications for its Dominic Roux Scholarship.
- On March 31, Sue Cross, Executive Vice President/CFO at Changing Seasons FCU, retired from the credit union after a 50-year career in the financial services industry. Congratulations, Sue!
- Jen Hogan, Community CU’s President/CEO, and Betsy Sibley, VP of Marketing/Business Development, were guests on the Breakfast Club with Mark in the Morning (WIGY 105.5 FM) to discuss how the credit union navigated the pandemic.
- Connected CU teamed up with local students in the Jobs for Maine Graduates (JMG) program at Cony High School to help them collect cereal boxes for the Augusta Food Bank.
- cPort CU participated in the Maine Irish Heritage Center’s Virtual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade.
- Cumberland County FCU celebrated National Employee Appreciation Day with goodie bags for each employee.
- Dirigo FCU sponsored Uplift L.A.’s Fun After 5 Trivia Night.
- Downeast CU congratulated Katie Knight for writing $1,000,000 in loans this month! Katie also saved members $20,065.33 by refinancing through the Switch & Save program.
- Evergreen CU announced its top five finalists for Lending Partner of the Year. Congratulations to Scott’s Recreation, Robertson’s Power & Sports, Macdonald Motors, Richardson’s Boat Yard, and Lee’s Family Trailer Sales & Service.
- Five County CU dressed down to raise money for the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence. This organization was chosen to be the credit union’s charity of the quarter.
- Gardiner FCU held a pet supply drive to support the Kennebec Valley Humane Society.
- To help celebrate its 100th anniversary, Infinity FCU provided every employee with a $100 gift card to perform random acts of kindness in their local communities.
- KSW FCU participated in the Waldo County YMCA food drive.
- KV FCU donated $384 to support a local Maine woman who is hiking 400 miles to raise money and awareness for Good Shepherd Food Bank.
- To help protect members, Lincoln Maine FCU shared timely information about a new Amazon watch raffle scam in its March 18 blog.
- Lisbon Community FCU celebrated employee Kara McGee’s birthday.
- Maine Harvest FCU celebrated one year in operation! Happy birthday to Maine’s newest credit union.
- Maine Highlands FCU announced it will be reopening its lobbies at all locations.
- Maine Family FCU gave a Facebook shout-out to their wonderful members and staff in celebration of International Women’s Day.
- Maine Savings FCU announced it will be reopening lobbies for teller transactions effective April 1.
- Maine State CU announced it will be holding its annual FeedME 5k to End Hunger later this spring. This year’s event will be virtual, which means participants can walk anywhere they choose between April 24 and May 31.
- Midcoast FCU promoted the Topsham Fair’s Food Drive on March 6 to benefit the Midcoast Hunger Prevention Program.
- New Dimensions FCU’s staff recently participated in a training to learn how to use their new AED units.
- Congratulations to Northeast CU’s President/CEO Timothy Collia for announcing his upcoming retirement! He will be leaving the credit union this summer to enjoy retirement in Michigan with his wife Doreen.
- NorState FCU has announced that it is accepting applications for its 2021 scholarship program. A total of six $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in June.
- On March 5, OTIS FCU recognized its dedicated team of hardworking employees with balloons and treats to celebrate Employee Appreciation Day.
- The team at Oxford FCU celebrated an important milestone on March 8. The credit union turned 83!
- Penobscot County FCU celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by having employees wear green for the special occasion.
- PeoplesChoice CU served as a sponsor of the Heart of Biddeford’s Winter Week celebration.
- Sabattus Regional CU recently held a bottle drive at M.T. Bottle and Redemption Center. Proceeds from the drive will benefit the Campaign for Ending Hunger.
- Saco Valley CU opened its 2021 scholarship program for students attending a two- or four-year college.
- The County FCU donated over 140 boxes of cereal to support local food pantries as part of the 2021 Cereal Drive.
- Town & Country FCU proudly served as a sponsor of Mary’s Walk, an annual walk/run event to benefit the Maine Cancer Foundation.
- Trademark FCU started performing 85 acts of kindness in honor of its 85th birthday. What a great way to celebrate!
- TruChoice FCU announced it has saved members over $250,000 in interest this year!
- The Maine Senate confirmed the nomination of Renee Ouellette, President/CEO at University CU to the Finance Authority of Maine Board. Congratulations, Renee!
- Winthrop Area FCU’s CEO, Jeff Seguin, celebrated his birthday last month! Happy birthday, Jeff!
