The League has sent a letter to Maine Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Jeanne Lambrew advocating that credit union employees be included in future phases of vaccine distribution.
While the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) included financial institutions in phase 1C of its vaccine distribution guidelines, states are not required to follow their recommendations. Each state has flexibility to develop and adopt their own plan based on the needs of their population.
The League will continue to monitor and advocate for the adoption of federal CDC guidelines. Maine has not announced when and what segment of the population will qualify for the next phase of vaccine distribution.
