The League and Coast Line CU Mourn the Passing of Jean Gilpatrick

The League joins Coast Line CU in mourning the passing of longtime volunteer Jean Gilpatrick. She served as a volunteer for Coast Line CU for 50 years and was instrumental in moving the credit union from serving the employees of the Maine Central Railroad Company and Portland Terminal Company to having a broad community charter.

Always an advocate for the membership, Jean pushed to modernize the credit union and was the impetus for adding many of the services that Coast Line CU members enjoy today. Jean served 27 years on the credit union’s Supervisory Committee, including 17 years as committee chair. She also was a 23-year member of the Board of Directors and served 13 years as its chair.

In 1999, Jean received the prestigious Alexander Ferguson Award which recognizes Maine’s credit union volunteer of the year. She also was active in her community, serving as chair of the Portland Planning Board.

We extend our condolences to Jean’s family, friends, and credit union colleagues.
