The credit union People Helping People philosophy is put into action by Maine credit unions every day through our commitment to providing people of all ages with financial education. Other organizations, like Junior Achievement of Maine, also are doing important work to promote financial literacy. With the help of local volunteers, Junior Achievement educates students across the state about work-readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
Would you like to lend your time and talent to support Junior Achievement? Volunteers are needed to assist with the elementary, middle, and high school programs.
“Volunteering with Junior Achievement was one of my favorite highlights from last year,” said Jake Holmes, the League’s Financial Literacy Outreach Coordinator. “I had the privilege of volunteering in two kindergarten classrooms. The students were very engaged in the Junior Achievement program and now they have knowledge of basic, yet extremely important, financial literacy concepts.”
To get involved in a classroom near you, visit Junior Achievement’s website and click on the classroom openings page. After selecting a date(s) with the school or your choice, Junior Achievement will provide you materials to deliver a financial literacy lesson tailored for a specific classroom at the school.
