In an effort to keep you apprised of the latest security threats, the League wants to alert you about new fraudulent cashier’s checks circulating within the Shared Branching network. The checks appear to be originating from our friends at Lincoln Maine FCU and are part of another secret shopper scam!
The Federal Trade Commission has written several blog posts about mystery shopper scams. In addition to containing valuable information, each blog serves as a good reminder about the types of schemes that exist.
Given that the busy holiday shopping season is just around the corner, more of these scams could be popping up in the weeks ahead. By being extra vigilant, you can help protect your credit union, your members, and other credit unions against this type of fraud.
