Summer always seems to go by too quickly, but credit unions around the state are taking full advantage of each and every day. With ATV rides, member appreciation days, golf tournaments, and philanthropic outreach, the start of summer proved to be a busy month. Here is a look at what our credit unions were up to in June:

  • Acadia FCU hosted an ATV ride fundraiser on June 13. The proceeds from this annual ride benefited the Aroostook Chapter’s three charities: Ending Hunger, Special Olympics, and CULAC.
  • For every Portland Sea Dogs run scored, Atlantic FCU donated $10 to the Campaign for Ending Hunger. That’s $1,070 for the month of June!
  • Bangor FCU made generous donations to the Bangor Region YMCA, The Game Loft in Belfast, Special Olympics Maine, and the Belfast Soup Kitchen.
  • Brewer FCU donated more than $6,500 to two local food pantries last month.
  • Capital Area FCU raised $2,651 during their 20th Annual Yard Sale on June 8, with all proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Maine.
  • Casco FCU celebrated one of their many Member Appreciation events on June 3, with free ice cream from Beals on Wheels.
  • Central Maine CU received a state legislative sentiment from Senator Ned Claxton on June 18. The CU received the sentiment for their support of Camp Connor in Poland.
  • Changing Seasons FCU held two ticket giveaways in June. The CU raffled a pair of tickets to the Red Sox and a handful of tickets to see Mamma Mia at the Bangor Opera House.
  • Community CU shared information on Senior$afe and elder abuse prevention at the Senior Resource Fair in Lewiston on June 19.
  • Connected CU held a summer raffle to benefit Ending Hunger. The lucky winner walked away with a bundle of seasonal gear.
  • cPort CU employees participated at Southern Maine World Refugee Day on June 22. cPort staff helped set up, feed attendees, and coordinate youth activities.
  • Cumberland County FCU’s call center team went to 33 Elmwood for some fun games and team building after work in late-June.
  • Dirigo FCU attended Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School’s awards ceremony for graduating students. The CU awarded a very deserving student with a scholarship.
  • Staff from Downeast CU dressed down to raise money for Ending Hunger on June 12. Instead of simply wearing jeans, they wore Bruins gear in support of the Stanley Cup finals.
  • Eastmill CU awarded nine area high school graduates $500 scholarships. The scholarships are payable to the students school upon completion of their first semester of higher learning.
  • Evergreen CU’s Annual Disk Golf Tournament took place on June 12, raising over $23,000 for Ending Hunger.
  • Five County CU employees contributed to CULAC and dressed casual at work from June 24 – 28. Their contributions will help support credit union interests in Augusta and Washington.
  • Gardiner FCU is a sponsor of the Summer Read Program at the Gardiner Public Library. On June 25, the CU had a chance to read to over 20 children at a library event.
  • Infinity FCU received the Marketing Association of Credit Unions Silver MAC Award for their Youth Adventure Accounts in early June.
  • KSW FCU sold calendar tickets during the month of June to benefit Ending Hunger and local Special Olympics athletes.
  • KV FCU is doing their part to help the planet. As of June 27, the CU has saved 712 million lbs. of wood, 1.9 billion gallons of water, and 105 million lbs. of waste by using DocuSign.
  • Lincoln Maine FCU celebrated Flag Day by handing out tasty treats and miniature flags.
  • Staff from Lisbon Community FCU dressed down in blue jeans from June 17 – 22 in support of Ending Hunger.
  • Maine Highlands FCU sold (and is continuing to sell) raffle tickets for a new 65” Samsung TV with proceeds going to benefit the Campaign for Ending Hunger. The drawing will take place next month.
  • Maine Savings FCU held a ribbon cutting and grand opening party at the Maine Savings Pavilion on June 22.
  • Maine State CU held a summer blood drive on June 17 at their Ganneston Drive Augusta location. Anyone who donated blood received a $10 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card.
  • Midcoast FCU held Casual for a Cause days in support of Ending Hunger.
  • Concrete was poured at New Dimensions FCU’s soon-to-be location on Silver Street in Waterville on June 14.
  • Northeast CU awarded college scholarships to twenty-five extraordinary Northeast CU student-members in both Maine and New Hampshire.
  • NorState FCU kicked off its Music in the Park series on June 13.
  • OTIS FCU added a new digital sign in front of their branch in mid-June.
  • Oxford FCU committed to supporting the RSU 10’s summer meals program. The program offers free meals for children Monday – Friday at the Mexico Library, Rumford Library, and the Calvin Wells Memorial Recreation Field in Buckfield.
  • For every Fight Hunger reusable shopping bag purchased at the Hogan Rd/Stillwater Ave. Hannaford location during the month of June, Penobscot County FCU donated $1 to the Campaign for Ending Hunger.
  • PeoplesChoice CU held a pet photo contest. The winner received two Red Sox tickets.
  • Sabattus Regional CU celebrated their Employee Appreciation Week with a cookout, gardening, and more!
  • Seaboard FCU raised a total of $712 during their Zoe’s Club Rabies Clinic on June 8. The CU matched the amount, donating a total of $1,424 to the Bucksport Animal Shelter.
  • The County FCU award $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors within the credit union’s field of member on June 27. The CU has awarded $106,000 in scholarships to local students over the past 22 years.
  • Town & Country FCU staff spent time volunteering with Wayside Food Programs on June 24. The volunteers helped prepare meals being served to asylum seekers at the Portland Expo.
  • Trademark FCU unveiled their new logo on June 21.
  • University CU was busy welcoming new students at Maine colleges throughout the state last month.
  • In addition to celebrating staff birthdays, Winthrop Area FCU promoted Winthrop’s summer recreation program and the free summer lunch program for kids and teens.
  • Winslow Community FCU partnered with United Way to display pantry shelves in their lobby last month, where they collected food for those in need.
