Bangor FCU Lends a Helping Hand to Belfast Organizations

Bangor FCU presents a check for $3,000 to volunteers at the Belfast Soup Kitchen.

Staff from Bangor Federal Credit Union (FCU) recently spent the day in Waldo County giving back to two local organizations serving the greater Belfast community:  the Belfast Soup Kitchen and the Game Loft – Kids in Community.

Bangor FCU’s Jill Harper, Human Resources Director, and Tina Morrill, Director of Marketing, began their day at the Belfast Soup Kitchen helping volunteers prepare meals. Before departing, Harper and Morrill presented the Soup Kitchen a check for $3,000 to support their operations and benefit their new facility. The Soup Kitchen serves over 20,000 meals a year to those in need.

“Opportunities to get out in the communities where we serve help reinforce why credit unions are key to the People Helping People philosophy,” said Harper.

The day concluded with a visit and $3,000 check presentation to staff at the Game Loft, an organization that promotes positive youth development through non-electronic games and community involvement. The Game Loft’s out-of-school programs are free to all Waldo County youth, ages 6 -18.

“We are so grateful that Bangor FCU was able to make a financial contribution to these two organizations, “said Morrill. “We enjoyed spending time learning about their mission and the services they provide to Waldo County. “

Local youth at the Game Loft join in to accept a $3,000 donation from Bangor FCU.
