CUs honored for community-service, other initiatives

From community-service and member education to financial education for youth and financial education for adults, Maine CUs have a long and storied history of helping members and communities.  For those efforts, eleven Maine CUs were recognized with the Maine CU League’s Annual State Awards during the League’s Annual Meeting on Friday, May 18.

A total of 22 awards were presented with several CUs receiving multiple awards.  The following credit unions received first-place awards and will now move on to compete in the national competition, coordinated by the Credit Union National Association, in the fall.

Dora Maxwell Community Service Award –

First Place: Oxford FCU; Town & Country FCU

Louise Herring Member Education Award –

First Place: Five County CU; Infinity FCU

Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award –

First Place: Five County CU

Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award –

First Place: Community CU; Town & Country FCU

A Maine CU has received at least one national award in the national competition in 15 out of the past 19 years.
